New Beginnings!

Yes, indeed friends and fans! New beginnings!
I've been painting like a wild man this whole year, and I'm getting ready for two big shows in Buffalo this Summer. I'll give a sample of just one of the many pieces below, called "Blue Rush." Soooo many more pieces are coming!

Although I've been minding my own business sitting here in my studio, not bothering anyone, someone was actually stupid enough to call the police about one of my paintings because they were offended. Yes-- you read that sentence correctly; they called the cops because of my artwork. Sadly, I'm used to this.
The police, seeing the issue as totally unimportant and unwarranted, wanted nothing to do with the matter. They were kindly apologetic.

What will my response to this pathetic attempt be?

I retire from my day job in less than 6 months. That's it-- only 6 months. The painting that offended this sad little person will then be published, broadcast, exhibited and sold far and wide. Plus, the story behind this phone call will also be told far and wide.
I will never allow someone else's ignorance to stop me from creating my art. Never.
LOTS more coming. Here's Blue Rush:

Michael Aaron Gallagher Article

July, 2018:

Friends and Fans:

I want to let you know about an excellent article that was recently written about me by journalist Michael Aaron Gallagher. It's always nice when someone takes the time to understand my work before writing about it. Unfortunately, this doesn't always happen. Many reporters have written about my art without truly understanding its context and purpose. Michael is not only a collector of my work, but he understands the place I've earned in the underground art scene and the constant grappling match I've endured with the society I live in. Here's the link to Michael's awesome page:

Beautifully written and well researched! It's an honor to have my work in Michael's collection!

"My Prayer" Video is Done and Online!

I took sequential shots of my new painting, "My Prayer," from pencil sketch to completion. This video shows the development of the painting, along with a live soundtrack from my band, "FlashBamPow." I intend to use the video in trainings and workshops with other artists, as it demonstrates my method of glazing in oils over acrylic washes. Hope you enjoy it!

New Beginnings

I have taken a quick break from exhibiting work to tend to my acid jazz power trio, FlashBamPow. This was a decision that I struggled with at first, but it turned out to be the best decision I could have made.
The new music, and the new sounds that we've created are insanely fantastic, and as a trio, we are exploring new territory. The energy we kick up during live performance is jaw-dropping. I'm at the top of my creative powers in this trio, and it feels very natural when we jam.
We are working on our 1st live CD, and are also experimenting with new arrangements. I will keep you all posted about gigs, and our 1st releases.
In the meantime, go to our site for MP3 samples, and VIDEOS!

FlashBamPow

The FlashBamPow.com website is up and ready. FlashBamPow is the acid jazz trio I created with Dan Zea and Chris Williamson, and it is insane. We will be posting updates, gigs, pics and new tunes there.  We will also be posting videos from shows.

Many New Things Are Happening!

After hundreds of exhibits throughout the country, I have decided to take a short break from exhibiting in galleries. I will still be selling my art, prints, books and other merchandise through www.seanmaddenart.com, so people will still be able to purchase my work. I will let everyone know when I begin to actively exhibit art again, and will announce new events here.

I am playing in an insanely creative, high-powered acid jazz trio named, "Bif Tadley and the Extremophiles." My old bandmates Chris Williamson (drums) and Dan Zea (bass) and I will once again be terrorizing audiences with our mind-expanding souljams. This is a very powerful act-- when we play, the audience goes insane. People crawl on the floor and act like maniacs. I will announce our future shows here, and eventually, through our new website.
